Leadership Hunterdon
Leadership Hunterdon, a program initiated in 2012, was created to transform people to become trustees of our communities, to become leadership resources and work for the betterment of Hunterdon County.
About leadership hunterdon
Leadership Hunterdon will develop the next generation of leaders that will impact the many facets of our community. Individuals nominated to Leadership Hunterdon have been selected as individuals with a sincere interest in enhancing the quality of life in Hunterdon County. One of the goals for participants in Leadership Hunterdon is to develop strong leaders’ qualities within their respective organizations. Individuals are able to enhance their decision making and strategic thinking and acquire in-depth exposure to Hunterdon County business leaders, community leaders, non-profit leaders and political leadership. The class is made up of individuals from local businesses and non-profit organizations who have a passion to learn about Hunterdon County as well as themselves. For 10 months, the class becomes immersed in a “behind the scenes” overview of Hunterdon County that explored the many facets that shape the current make-up of the County.
What to expect
Leadership Hunterdon is an immersive program that begins in September and the class meets once a month through graduation in June. Participants attend sessions targeted to specific aspects of the county such as businesses; education; economic development - tourism/DMO; environmental-agriculture; financial, accounting and real estate; healthcare/wellness issues; legal, criminal and prevention; legislative - government and media communications. Along the way, you will meet key figures in business and government and gain a deeper understanding of County operations. At the end of the session, the class will work collectively to develop a white paper that will seek to provide solutions to issues our County faces.
Leadership Hunterdon Alumni contribute back to the Community serving on non-profit Board of Directors, getting involved in community events and maybe even running for political office! Beyond that, you will become part of a network of alumni that offers support to each other.
Post Program involvement
Once you graduate from Leadership Hunterdon, the opportunities presented to you are endless. The Alumni Committee meets regularly and is involved in different events within the Chamber including Community Day and the Business Expo.
Becoming an alumni opens up doors to join different committees, boards and groups within the Chamber. It is up to you to use the skills and knowledge you will learn in this program to benefit your career as well as Hunterdon County.
